Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled CNC Swiss Machinist/CNC Operator to join our precision manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC Swiss-style lathes (e.g., Citizen, Star, Tsugami) to produce high-precision components in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to quality are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC Swiss-style lathes to produce complex, close-tolerance components.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Select appropriate tooling, make offsets, and adjust machine settings to maintain part quality.
- Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, comparators, and other precision measuring tools.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and keep work area clean and organized.
- Identify and correct machining issues such as tool wear, chatter, or dimensional drift.
- Maintain production and quality logs as required.
- Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and quality personnel to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Follow all safety and quality protocols in accordance with company and industry standards.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or machinist certification preferred.
- 3+ years of experience operating and setting up CNC Swiss machines.
- Proficient in reading blueprints and understanding GD&T.
- Familiar with tight tolerance machining (±0.0002") and working with metals like stainless steel, titanium, or aluminum.
- Strong knowledge of tooling, speeds/feeds, and cutting strategies.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments and document results.
- CNC programming experience (G-code, conversational, or CAM software) is a plus.
Preferred Experience (Not Required):
- Experience with machines like Citizen L-series, Tsugami, Star SR series, or similar.
- Familiarity with medical device or aerospace components.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
